Rednecks vs Any Living Thing In the Woods

Now I've been gator spotlighting before. You can walk around any public park in Central Florida at night with a flashlight and see tons of gators. Their eyes glow red from the reflection. Here we are in an isolated piece of God's creation and we got nothing. Not a single sighting tonight.

My only conclusion is that as isolated as it is around here we are not isolated from locals running amok with their shooting irons. Folks cannot run around in public parks with their guns and that is why you can easily spot a gator there. I am sure the gators are here too, just scared. I suspect there is a lesson in there for places like California that have mountain lions eating up their kids. Let the Rednecks loose for a while and ain't no mountain lion going go nowhere near no human.

Anyway, what the isolation does do is provide an amazing night time sky. There is almost no light pollution out here. The metropolis of Suwannee is barely lit and the next small town is 23 miles up the road. You can see the milky way and every star in the sky is three time brighter than home.
